Raphoe Will. Samuel Holmes.1857. “I Samuel Holmes of Raphoe in the pariah of Raphoe County Donegal.. do make my last Will & Testament”  I bequeath:- to my son James Holmes my house & lands chattels & property of every sort with the following reservations  “I allow my wife Hester to reside in the house with my eldest son James & to be supplied with food & clothing by him, but so soon as either shall desire a separation they may separate”  and in this case my son James is to pay to my wife Hester £20 in five yearly instalments of £4. a year from the date of such separation. I be to my son William Holmes £3) to be paid to him by my eldest son James Holmes off my said property, & to be paid within 2 years after my death. In the interval my son William is to be supplied with food & clothing by my son James on condition that he live in the family & work for the family as hitherto… “Should my eldest son dislike the above arrangement, I allow all my property of all kinds whatsoever to be sold by Public Auction & the proceeds to be divided equally among the three already named” executors:- James Holmes, Samuel Pollock “Signed sealed & delivered at liaphoe August 10.1857” Witnesses:- J.
