
Derry Will – John Homes, Donaghmore, 1748.
I John Homes of Grahamsland in the Parish of Donaghmore and County of Donegall……do make my last Will & testament. I bequeath: to my sister Shusana Wright L3, to my sister Rebecca Stinson L3. to my sister Elizabeth Wilson L3…… the above legacies to be paid, after my Mother’s death, out of the profits of that part of Grahams Land Lease that is now in my mother Mary Homes‘ possession. to James Kelso at the age of 24 years that part of the Grahamsland Lease that is in my own name being one-half of the Grahamsland Lease. Until James Kelso attains 24 years the profits of the said Lease are to go to his mother Sarah Kelso. “And whereas my father William Homes of Castlefin in his last Will left to my mother Mary Homes for life the dwellinghouse & farm of Grahamsland that he possessed in his lifetime” and after my mother’s death to me….. I bequeath the said farm to my sister Sarah after my mother’s death & also to my sister Sarah all my goods and chattles and the Lease of the Mill at Macherenvally……my sister Sarah to pay the above bequeathed L9 and to give Agnes Brown L1.10 to buy a gown”.
